Using colored pens to take notes is becoming increasingly common among undergraduate students. In this study, I am looking at the overall effect that using colored pens has on student outcomes and variables that predict their use. I will use an anonymous online survey to collect data for this study. I hypothesize that women use colored pens more often than men. I hypothesize that younger groups of college students are more likely to use colored pens compared to older students. I hypothesize that people who use colored pens have higher GPAs. Finally, I hypothesize that people who use colored pens rate themselves as more creative than people who do not. This study has been approved by the Kent State IRB and data collection is ongoing.
