Fisher currently serves as the retail and restaurant reporter for Dayton Daily news, a Cox Media Group news source. Since 1989, he has authored the Taste of Wine column for Dayton Daily News. He started Uncorked in 2005 and was one of the first daily wine columnists to launch a wine blog. In 2008, he established Taste, a food and dining blog. Fisher's work has appeared in a number of national and area wine tourism publications and websites including Ohio Magazine and WineEnthusiast.com. He has also served a judge for the Ohio Wine Competition, the Indy International Wine Competition, and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Wine Competition. |
Halliday’s Winery, 201801/01/2018Established in 2009 and owned by Ron and Mike Birchak, the winery is named after Jesse Halliday, an early entrepreneur who owned several taverns and a grist mill in Lake Milton in the late 1700s. The idea of establishing a winery began at Debonne Vineyards in Madison, Ohio, the location that supplies and delivers wine to this establishment. With wine labels named after prominent and local historical figures, the location offers a variety of sweet to dry red and white wines and mead (honey wine). |

Inspired by the success of other area wineries, Randy and Carolyn Wyand developed a plan to establish a vineyard and winery on property that they had owned and enjoyed for over twenty-five years. Planted on the site are several popular cold-hardy grape varieties such as Gewürztraminer, Riesling, Merlot, and Chardonnay. The winery offers a mix of sweet to dry wine and the 5,500 square-foot barn is available for a variety of special events. |

Constructed in 1868 and renovated in 1991-1992, the only original structural components that remain are the trusses and its south abutment. |
