Abstract |
Three new Lotus macro programs have been written to automate interfacing and data acquisition, data-file creation, and analytical drift correction for the output of an inductively coupled plasma (ICP) spectrometer. These programs, in conjunction with an IBM-compatible PC, collectively represent a low-cost alternative or supplement to commercial data stations. Although primarily intended to facilitate reduction of research-related data, the drift-correction macro is useful also as a pedagogical aid in teaching instrumental geochemical analysis. The three macro programs are described in sufficient detail to facilitate adaptation for use with diverse analytical instrumentation.
