A Kent State University Stark Campus sophomore was crowned Miss Ohio. As one of 15 finalists, Lesa Rummell was asked to explain her motto for life and told the judges "the key to success starts with a smile." A bluegrass festival is held on campus. Local residents complained when the the show ran past midnight. "556 gallons of beer were consumed by 350 people."
