Preparing Teachers as Lead Professionals for a Democratic Morality10/24/2014This panel presentation will open with a brief synopsis of a new curriculum development text that provides guidance to educators on how they can work as lead professionals for democratic morality. This introductory synopsis will be made by the author of the book, entitled Reconceptualizing Curriculum Development: Inspiring and Informing Action. The text includes contributions from an international group of teachers, teacher educators, and educational administrators. Following the opening overview, three of the book’s contributors will then discuss the teacher preparation implications of this professional leadership approach. They are a kindergarten teacher in the Stow-Munroe Falls School District, a part-time teacher education instructor at John Carroll University (JCU), and an experienced teacher education professor at JCU. The kindergarten teacher and the JCU instructor are C&I Ph.D. students at Kent State University (KSU), while the author of the curriculum development text is a professor of curriculum studies at KSU. |
