Abstract |
After graduation, I plan to become a fine jeweler. I want to work with gold for my senior thesis so that I can experiment and become familiar with the properties of the material. I want to make comparisons between precious and non-precious materials and how fine jewelery is influenced by these properties. I will use Rhino 5, a 3D modeling program, to design each of the pieces then use the resin printer at Kent State to create high quality prints that I will then cast in house using gold. I have previously used the online company Shapeways to print my designs. Having the opportunity to cast my own work for my thesis would benefit my future career and would make me more marketable to employers after graduation. Having the opportunity to create a series of gold rings for my thesis would directly reflect what I plan to do with my future. To do this I will need 2 ounces of gold as well as a few stones. |
