This study investigate the principles of a resilient structural design inspired by nature. Based on our research, we looked into materials specifically found in nature such as the spider web. We found that the silk spun by a spider and the design generated by it serves as good research study as to what makes the web resilient.
The design structure of the web plays an important role of sustaining the web in environmental conditions. The characteristics of these materials in relation to our research is that the spider silk has high tensile strength and greater elasticity making it a good study for lightweight resilient structure.
We propose the principles for resilient structures and then we apply it into our design structures. Based on our preliminary studies we are going to incorporate the idea behind the design ideologies inspired by nature. The features of the web have been found to resilient in buildings and even serve as an unbreakable material for future purposes.
